Musicians Come to Wentworth Library for Black History Month
The library will host an evening of poetry and music Tuesday.
The Dakota County Library is bringing the award winning musicians Anita Ruth and T. Mychael Rambo to Wentworth Library this Tuesday.
The pair were named artists of the year in 2006 by Young Audiences of Minnesota and will be perform poetry and music from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
From the library's description:
Beginning with songs of freedom, discover not only the beauty of the compositions, but also the power of language in communicating ideas, experiences and emotions.
The performance is part of the Dakota County Library's Black History Month programming.
On Feb. 2, libraries across the country will mark the second annual "Take Your Child to the Library Day"—and Wescott Library in Eagan has a few special activities in store.
Local residents will be able to participate in a special storytime at 10:30 a.m. on Feb. 2 at the library. Also, every child who gets their first library card that day will receive a gently-used book.
Nadine Lipman, a children's librarian in Waterford, Conn., came up with the idea for Take Your Child to the Library Day and selected the first Saturday in February as the annual day of celebration.
