Simley High School to Perform Greek Tragedy
The Theater Guild is performing the classic Greek tragedy Antigone ... steampunk style.
Students at Simley High School are busy rehearsing and constructing sets for their production of Steampunk Antigone.
Antigone is the classic Greek tale of a sister’s efforts to properly bury her brother despite the King’s command that his body remain exposed to the elements.
The theme of morally right vs. legally right is a timeless one.

To stress that this theme does not belong any one time period, the Theater Guild has chosen to present the play in Steampunk style. Steampunk is a fantasy, alternate time period with a look similar to the Victorian and early industrial eras. The sets and costumes are set outside of real time, so the play becomes timeless.
In addition to all the work going into the production, the students also bent their efforts to fundraising. They produced a video that can be seen on their Kickstarter fundraising site.
