Thank You David.
I know Ryan wishes for his bike back, but my wish is for the parents to see what their boys are really up to.

Has this video led to any arrests in this theft? It may only be a bike but it's theft and it needs to be addressed. I am sure someone who reads Patch knows who that is and can report that to the police. At the same time, are the police looking to catch this person? If they are not responding to this, what does it say about our law enforcement in this city? Sure they may have other things to look into, but if they let this go it's pretty disappointing.

Al - We gave the officer a name (my daughter said it looked like someone she knew), school location and copies of the video. A couple weeks later, the accused kid and his father met with the officer and watched the video. The officer called us after that meeting and said it was not that kid (but VERY similar) and was closing the case.
Telling my 10 yr old it was the "wrong" kid and IGH PD weren't going to look any further, was very disappointing for him and frustrating for me. We have video proof. We had the bottle of Brandy. I never expected anyone to call the FBI on a stolen bike, but you can NOT tell me these kids are a mystery. That's when I posted the video on YouTube.
Whether they live in IGH, SSP, WSP etc., someone knows who they are. The bike is gone - but these 2 kids are out there and got away with theft. I'm betting it's not their "first" offense and it won't be their last. I wonder if they will get "caught on video" the next time?

I had a similar situation years ago when my sons bike was stolen in St. Paul and several kids identified the kid who took it, including his address. When I called the police to report it, they gave me back the bike ($200) all stripped down in a bag. I said I wanted to have his family pay to have my sons bike rebuilt and the officer told me that his family was having a hardship and his dad was in prison. Yet I was a single mom, who wasn't getting child support and struggle to buy that bike for my son and have it registered to boot, had to pay another $182 to have it rebuilt! Where's the lesson for the future hudlum. I see him following his fathers footsteps with the aid of our local police.
