Warrant Issued After IGH Man Accused of Impregnating 13-Year-Old Fails to Appear
Nicholas William Marks, 21, is charged with third-degree criminal sexual conduct, a felony punishable by up to 15 years in prison and a $30,000 fine.
A Dakota County court issued an arrest warrant for a 21-year-old Inver Grove Heights man charged with having sex with—and ultimately impregnating—a girl he knew to be 13 years old.
Nicholas William Marks was scheduled to appear before Judge Robert King, Jr. on Oct. 15 after being charged with third-degree criminal sexual conduct but when he didn't show, the judge ordered the warrant.
According to a Sept. 20 summons complaint, the girl’s mother told police that her daughter and Marks had sex on “multiple occasions" while Marks was living with his grandmother in Inver Grove Heights.
The girl’s mother also said she had spoken to Marks about the pregnancy, but Marks told her that he didn’t want his name on the birth certificate because he didn’t want to get in trouble.
Third-degree criminal sexual conduct is a felony, punishable by a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison and a $30,000 fine.
The Dakota County Sheriff's Office urges anyone with information on Marks' whereabouts to call their office at 651-438-TIPS.
