A crowd got an up-close-and-personal look at a mock accident, car extrication and airlift on Sunday afternoon, courtesy of the Inver Grove Heights Police and Fire Departments and North Memorial Hospital's airlift service.
A range of classic cars, from some of the earliest models to modern sports cars, drew a large and appreciative crowd Sunday to the Inver Grove Heights Days Classic Car show. Held along Cahill Avenue under warm temperatures and sunny skies, the event was hosted by Medallions Car Club.
There were no losers Sunday in the annual Inver Grove Heights Days pet contest, just pets whose tails wagged a little prouder. Pets were awards honors and their owners prizes for: Best song, tallest, best trick, longest whiskers, shortest, longest tail, longest ears, best costume, most unique markings, best smile and owner-pet lookalike.
The annual Inver Grove Heights Days fireworks display lit up the city on Saturday around Simley Island Park.
A standing-room-only crowd cheered on the good guys and jeered at the bad guys as Pro Wrestling America returned to Inver Grove Heights Days on Saturday afternoon. In an overflowing tent set up next to Drkula's, a large crowd was treated to seven bouts, including a popular women's event. Much to the delight of the local crowd, hometown Inver Grove Heights wrestler Travis Voegele—one of the good guys—won. Cheyenne Anderson was crowned Miss Inver Grove 2012 during the coronation of the royal family on Saturday at Inver Hills Community College.  Anderson said she hope to keep alive the community spirit in Inver Grove Heights.  "I have big shoes to fill," Anderson said, "[Former queen] Kati [Giles] did an excellent job last year and I hope to do everything and more."  Also crowned on Saturday were Miss Inver Grove Princess Alicia Triviski, Junior Miss Inver Grove Kristi Schulz, Inver Grove Junior Princess Penny Lee, Little Miss Inver Grove Sophia Dahlke, and Little Miss Princess Inver Grove …
Hamburgers, cake, gyros, sauerbraten. Attendees at the first annual Taste of the Grove fundraiser got to choose from wide spectrum of dining choices at Simley High School on Saturday evening. More than a dozen restaurants handed out samples off their menu as part of the event, which was a fundraiser for the Simley Theater Guild program. To read more about the fundraiser, click here. Lots of area volleyball teams—some more serious than others—hit the sand courts, cheered on by families and friends in the 2011 Inver Grove Heights Days all-day volleyball tournament Saturday afternoon at Drkula's. There was also an all-day beanbag toss tournament at Drkula's, a wrestling tournament in the afternoon and a street dance in the evening.

Hundreds of families gathered outside Hilltop Elementary School on Friday night for inflatable games, dancing and concession food as part of Community Family Fun Night, an Inver Grove Heights Days activity. Click here for the full IGH Days schedule.
Roughly 25 skateboarders performed mid-air acrobatics at the 2011 Skate Jam on Thursday evening at the skate park behind Veterans Memorial Community Center. The event is an annual part of the Inver Grove Heights Days celebration and promotes a tobacco-free skate park.
