City Wants Volunteers For Shoreline Planting

The city hopes to protect the water quality of Simley Lake by planting native grasses along the shoreline.

The city of Inver Grove Heights is looking for 25 volunteers to help plant native grasses and other flora along the shore of Simley Lake in Inver Grove Heights.

The shoreline planting event is scheduled from 1pm to 4pm on Thursday, May 26 at Simley Lake at the corner of 80th Street and Cahill Avenue. The plantings will help prevent pollutants and runoff from entering the lake, improve the water quality of the lake and protect the fish species living in the lake.

Pre-registration is required for the event, which is hosted by the city and Great River Greening, a non-profit organization. Families, people of all ages and corporate groups or other organizations are welcome to participate.
