Get Out: Weekend Events in and Around Inver Grove Heights
Looking for things to do this weekend? Check out some of these ideas.
When/Where: 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19, at Southview Country Club in West St. Paul.
Why Go: Join the B.E.S.T. Foundation for an evening of cocktails, cuisine, exciting auctions and casino fun! This event raises scholarship money for Simley graduates with the proceeds of the silent auction and the sale of raffle tickets.
Cost: $35 for dinner.
When/Where: 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19, at the Minnesota Zoo
Why Go: Meet the family of monkeys that call the Minnesota Zoo home, and learn about their behavior, habitat and other unique characteristics of each species. To register for the class, click here.
Cost: Zoo Members: $18.50 per participant (minimum of 1 adult, 1 child = $37); Non-Members: $25 per participant (minimum of 1 adult, 1 child = $50)
- GB Leighton at Jersey's Bar and Grill
When/Where: 9:45 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19, at Jersey's Bar and Grill in Inver Grove Heights.
Why Go: After 15 years of music-making, GB Leighton has performed at more than 15,000 shows and produced a dozen albums. Listen to the heartfelt lyrics and house-rocking rhythms of this hard-working musician, who is often compared to Bruce Springsteen.
Cost: $6 cover charge.
When/Where: Deadline for photos is Monday, Dec. 5. Submitted photos can be taken anywhere within city limits.
Why Participate: The city's Parks and Recreation Department is holding a photography contest this fall. Categories for the contest include: People and personalities, wildlife/pets and city scenes/landscapes. The photos received will be put on display at Veterans Memorial Community Center, at which point the River Heights Arts Alliance will vote for a winner in each category.
Cost: Free
When/Where: 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 18, at in Inver Grove Heights.
Why Go: Create a Thanksgiving work of art. Stop by the children's area, where plenty of ideas and supplies will be available for this self-directed activity. Ages. 2-12.
