  • Model Magic Fish With Abrakadoodle
    When/Where: 1pm to 2pm on Friday at the Inver Glen Library in Inver Grove Heights
    Why Go: Roll, flatten, pinch and shape clay to create colorful fish with Abrakadoodle, an art organization geared toward children. Abrakadoodle takes an enlightened perspective to expanding children's creativity and their knowledge of the world of art, color, form and design. The group believes in a multi-arts approach to creativity, offering classes and programs featuring painting, sculpture, collage, mosaics, sketching and more.
    Cost: Free, but registration required. Follow the link above to register your child for the program.
  • River History Walking Tour
    When/Where:
    10:30am on Saturday at the Sibley House in Mendota
    Why Go:
    Join Sibley House Historic Site staff on a morning river walk (dogs welcome) and learn about the history of "the Entry," the juncture of the Minnesota and Mississippi Rivers, and its importance to the fur trade and development of Minnesota as a state. During the walk, dogs and their owners will also hear more about Henry Sibley's dogs, including his beloved Irish Wolfhound "Lion." Please remember bags and dog leashes.
    Cost: $6 for adults, $5 for seniors and college students, $4 for children ages 6-17; $2 discount for MHS members.
  • Crazy Country Bull Ridin'
    When/Where:
    9 to 11pm on Saturday at Jersey's Bar and Grill in Inver Grove Heights.
    Why Go: Listen to tunes spun by DJ Bob and take your chances riding a mechanical bull during this distinctly county-western event at Jersey's.
    Cost: $3 cover charge starts at 9pm for all participants
  • Father's Day Family Pops Concert
    When/Where:
    7pm on Sunday at Caponi Art Park in Eagan, 1205 Diffley Rd.
    Why Go: Come for a free orchestra concert. Children are welcome and encouraged to attend! All venues are handicap-accessible. The Minnesota Sinfonia’s Community Concerts are opportunities to enjoy light classical and “pop” music in a casual atmosphere.

  • Rent A Fishing Pole and Go Fishing
    When/Where:
    Throughout the summer, any number of publicly accessible lakes or ponds in the city.
    Why Go: Don't have a fishing pole, but have the urge to go catch some fish? Head to the Parks and Recreation Department offices in Veterans Memorial Community Center. Thanks to a partnership with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, you can rent a fishing pole and basic fishing tackle supplies this summer. For more information, call 651-450-2585.
    Cost: $10 deposit required to rent a pole.
