Get Out: Weekend Events in and Around Inver Grove Heights

Enjoy country music, a football fundraiser or a flower show this weekend.

  • Country Music at Jersey's Bar and Grill
    When/Where: 9:30pm to midnight on Friday at Jersey's Bar and Grill along Concord Boulevard in Inver Grove Heights.
    Why Go: Listen to the down-to-earth tunes of Alabama-born musician Michael Edward and his band, whose influences include Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings and Keith Whitley.
  • Spring Flower Show
    When/Where:
    10am to 6pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Como Zoo in St. Paul.
    Why Go: Ever wondered what 7,000 tulips smell like? Find out at the Como Zoo's spring flower show, which has thousands of flowers (including 7,000 tulips) arrayed out and on display for visitors. A small donation is suggested.
  • Simley Spartans Football Fundraiser
    When/Where: Noon to 4pm at the South St. Paul VFW.
    Why Go: Stuff your face with tacos at the team's taco feed, then bid on items, including sports jerseys and gift cards, during a silent auction. Proceeds go to the Simley Spartans football team.
  • Teen Night at Veterans Memorial Community Center
    Where/When:
    7:30pm to 9:30pm at The Grove Aquatics and Fitness Center in Inver Grove Heights.
    Why Go: Wrap up the week with a pool part at The Grove Aquatic and Fitness Center. Open for teens ages 12-17. Free for members, $4 for non-members to participate.
  • Gigantic Spring Arts and Crafts Show
    When/Where:
    11am to 9pm on Friday, 9am to 6pm on Saturday and 10am to 5pm on Sunday at Canterbury Park in Shakopee.
    Why Go: The Spring Festival is one of the country’s biggest and best arts and crafts events. Consistently ranked in the Top 100 Classic & Contemporary Show List by Sunshine Artist Magazine, this event is filled with hundreds of artists and crafters from across the country.

  • When/Where:
    1pm to 2pm on Saturday at the Inver Glen Library, Inver Grove Heights
    Why Go:
    Check out a free, two-for-one author appearance focused on cooking and Minnesota geology.
