Editor’s Note: This is press release from the Inver Grove Heights Police Department appears on the City of Inver Grove Heights website.

Please join us in celebrating the fourth annual Inver Grove Heights Night to Unite on Tuesday, Aug. 7.

Night to Unite is an effective and fun way to get to know your neighbors and prevent crime. This is a chance for neighbors to turn on their lights, lock their doors, and come together to strengthen their neighborhood bonds.

Each neighborhood decides how they want to celebrate Night to Unite. Gatherings can be as elaborate or as simple as you like—block parties, ice cream socials, live music, parades, kids’ games, potlucks, pizza parties, and barbeques. Gatherings will be visited by the police department, fire department, elected officials and other city staff. Night to Unite has proven to be an effective, inexpensive and enjoyable program to promote neighborhood bonds and police-community partnerships. The benefits our community will derive from Night to Unite will most certainly extend well beyond the night.

Please call Sgt. Kasey Schrandt at 651-450-2532 to register your event.

The Parks and Recreation Department would like to help you celebrate Night to Unite with a visit to your neighborhood block party.  Depending on the size of your gathering and space available, we will come prepared with games and/or freebies for you and your neighbors. If you are interested in having us visit, please submit a completed “Park and Rec Visit” application to: 8055 Barbara Avenue, Inver Grove Heights, MN  55077 by Aug. 1.

Staff will make every effort to visit as many events as possible between 5:30-7:30 p.m on Tuesday, Aug. 7. Parties will be given priority based on the date the application was submitted.  If you have any questions or would like an application, please call 651-450-2585 or download a form here.

Rolling Meadow's cooperative in IGH has a really good Night to Unite. There are games for the kids, a DJ/One Man Band, BBQ. Last year they had a dunk tank that was either a dollar for a few bars or a donations of food for the food shelves. Good place to take pictures. :)
