Mendota Heights and Inver Grove Heights are in the path of Winter Storm Q, expected to blow by from Thursday evening through Friday afternoon.

Updated 2:30 p.m. 2/20/2013:

The National Weather Service Winter Storm Watch has been reduced to a Winter Weather Advisory, as the bulk of Thursday's storm is expected to pass to our south.

However, as much as half a foot of snow could still fall in Mendota Heights, Inver Grrove Heights and the rest of Dakota County from Thursday evening through Friday morning.

Winter Storm "Q," the latest in a long line of storms to sweep across the Twin Cities region, is expected to reach Dakota County by Thursday evening.

By the time you're headed home from work Friday, we could see an additional seven inches of snow in Eagan, according to an winter storm watch alert from the National Weather Service.

The snow is expected to begin over southern Minnesota by late afternoon on Thursday and spread north and east to the central parts of the state Thursday night. Snowfall may continue through much of the day on Friday, according to forecasters, with the greatest accumulations possible in the extreme southern and southwestern parts of the state.
