The probability is increasing for the Twin Cities to see its first measurable snow of the season this weekend.

If you believe the most current weather forecast for this weekend, the Twin Cities metro area—including Inver Grove Heights and Mendota Heights—finally could see the first measurable snow of this winter season.

Today is Dec. 5. So statistically speaking, it’s time for winter weather.

National Weather Service forecasters say the area could receive an inch or two of snow Friday night into Saturday, then a few inches Saturday night through Sunday night.

Considering we still are a few days away from Saturday, the forecast could change.

But as we get closer to the weekend, forecasters say the probability of measurable snow is growing.

We’ll see.

LOCAL FORECAST
But before the area could experience winter weather for a change, we could receive some much-needed rain tonight and Thursday. There is a 30 percent chance of rain tonight and Thursday, with a high tomorrow of 44.

Temperatures are expected to be in the low 30s with a chance of snow over the weekend.
