What’s a parent to do?

With Minnesota in the grips of what may be the largest outbreak of influenza since the 2009 H1N1 epidemic, families in Inver Grove and elsewhere in the state are seeking answers to questions about how to prevent their children from getting sick.

With that in mind, Inver Grove Heights Community Schools has posted flu prevention information on its website. That information, from the Minnesota Department of Health, also is attached to this story.

So, how bad is this year’s version of the flu?

On Thursday morning, the Star Tribune reported that a record number of children tested positive for influenza at Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota last week.

In addition, Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville says it’s near capacity. Click here to read more about that that story.

For those of you who haven’t been infected with the flu yet, have you received your flu shot. Click here for information about where you can get the vaccine.
