Sounds of Minnesota Drum and Bugle Competition

The 2011 Sounds of Minnesota Drum and Bugle Competition will be held on Saturday, August 20 at Ettinger Field in South Saint Paul. The show starts at 6pm. Sounds of Minnesota features top all-age drum corps from, Wisconsin, Colorado, Arkansas, and Minnesota. Each unit will perform a 15 minute field show and will be evaluated by a panel of judges. Units from this show have gone on to win top placements in regional and national competitions.

You can expect to see over 400 musicians and color guard performing musical compositions and marching precise drill routines on the field. Drum and Bugle Corps has been called the, “Major League,” of marching band. The membership of the units represent the best performers from dozens of high school and college marching bands throughout the country.

The 2011 show features the 150 member unit, Minnesota Brass, Inc. from Saint Paul. Established in 1947, Minnesota Brass has reached the top echelon of the activity by placing 2nd in Drum Corps Associates World Championships in 2008, 2009, and 2010. The Sounds of Minnesota show will be the last chance to see Minnesota Brass perform in the Twin Cities before they head to Rochester, NY to compete for the DCA World Championship top spot.
