IGH Days: Meet Your 2011 Miss Inver Grove Heights Royalty Candidates

Editor's Note: Patch sent out questions to each of the Little Miss, Junior Miss and Miss Inver Grove Heights candidates. Here are the responses we received from some of this year's candidates. Not all candidates submitted responses to Patch. At the request of the Miss Inver Grove Heights Royalty program, the candidates' last names were withheld. Coronation commences at 4:30 p.m. Saturday evening at Inver Hills Performing Arts Center.

Little Miss Inver Grove Heights Candidates

• Alaina
  School: Inver Grove Heights Middle School
  Interests/Hobbies: I am active in volleyball and basketball. I enjoy playing the piano and reading books. For fun I like to draw pictures and paint them. 
  Career Aspirations/Life Goals: When I grow up I would like to be a first grade teacher because I like teaching kids new things.   I would also like to do something creative with art.
  Favorite Thing to Do in IGH? I like to hang out with my friends and "River," my puppy, at the parks around my house. I also like to go to the library because I like to read a lot.

  School: Pine Bend Elementary
  Interests/Hobbies: Soccer, fishing, swimming and hanging out with friends.
  Career Aspirations/Life Goals: To be a professional soccer player or a soccer coach.

  Interests/Hobbies: Dancing,singing and playing outside.
  Career Aspirations/Life Goals: I want to be a professional ice skater.
  Favorite Thing to Do in IGH? I like to go swimming at the lake and play at the park.
  Why Do You Want to be a Member of the 2012 Inver Grove Heights Royal Family? Beacause I can make new friends and help tell people about Inver Grove Heights.

  School: Homeschooled
  Interests/Hobbies: My hobbies are dancing, playing the piano, acting, scrapbooking and doing crafts.
  Career Aspirations/Life Goals: When I grow up I want to be a dance instructor.
  Favorite Thing to Do in IGH? My favorite things to do in Inver Grove Heights are ice skating outside in the winter and in the summer playing at all the parks.
  Why Do You Want to be a Member of the 2012 IGH Royal Family? I would like to be a part of the Inver Grove Heights Royal Family because I enjoy meeting new people, making friends and doing things in my community.

  School: Inver Grove Heights Middle School
  Interests/Hobbies: I like to swim, do art, play flute and piano. I also like Destination Imagination and archery.
  Career Aspirations/Life Goals: When I grow up I would like to be a pediatrician.
  Favorite Thing to Do in IGH? I like to go swimming at The Grove with my friends!
  Why Do You Want to be a Member of the 2012 Inver Grove Heights Royal Family? I would like to be part of the Royal family because I think it would be something that I will enjoy and it sounds like a great opportunity for me to meet more people.

  School: Salem Hills Elementary
  Interests/Hobbies: My interests and hobbies are reading, art, writing, swimming and soccer.
  Career Aspirations/Life Goals: When I grow up I hope to be a successful writer and illustrator. Also, since I love animals, I hope to volunteer at the Humane Society.
  Favorite Thing to Do in IGH? My favorite thing to do in Inver Grove Heights is ride my bike around with my family, play with my friends, and explore!
  Why Do You Want to be a Member of the 2012 IGH Royal Family? I want to be a member of the Inver Grove Heights Royal Family because I love Inver Grove Heights and my mom and I think that it will be a good experience for me. I also applied to be Little Miss Inver Grove Heights because I wanted to meet new people.

• Emmaline 
  School: Salem Hills Elementary 
  Interests/Hobbies: I like to read, and my favorites are the Books of Elsewhere. I like to draw and write stories and plays. I like being outside and riding my bike. 
  Career Aspirations/Life Goals: When I grow up I would like to be a police officer with a dog and help people.
  Favorite Thing to Do in IGH? I like doing lots of things—going to the park and playing on the monkey bars, swimming at The Grove, and going to the library to get books and play on the computers.
  Why Do You Want to be a Member of the 2012 IGH Royal Family? I would be able to meet many people and make new friends. And I can volunteer and help at community events like the Easter Egg Hunt and Boo Bash.

• Hope 
  School: Hilltop Elementary School
  Interests/Hobbies: I enjoy dancing, playing piano and participating in gymnastics. I have been dancing since I was 3 years old and have done tap, jazz and ballet. In the coming year I would like to take drawing classes at school and learn how to ice skate. When I am at home I like to play with my younger brother and sister.
  Career Aspirations/Life Goals: When I grow up I want to be a baby doctor because I love babies and I really like taking care of them and making them feel good. I also want to be a mom and have five kids and a big house.
  Favorite Thing to Do in IGH: My favorite thing to do in Inver Grove Heights is to go swimming at The Grove and play with my family at the parks. My favorite park in IGH is Rich Valley because there is so much to do.
  Why Do You Want to be a Member of the 2012 IGH Royal Family? I would like to be a member of the 2012 Inver Grove Heights Royal Family because I love princesses! I think it would be a lot of fun and I will get to meet new people and try new things.

• Jennifer

  Interests/Hobbies: Being with friends and family, playing with my dog Abby, biking and playing the saxophone.  
  Career Aspirations/Life Goals: Veterinarian or Assistant Chef
  Favorite Thing to Do in IGH? Going to the Grove and watching the IGH Days Parade.
  Why Do You Want to be a Member of the 2012 Inver Grove Heights Royal Family? It will be a good experience and to know the community better.

  School: Inver Grove Heights Middle School
  Interests/Hobbies: I love painting, hanging out with friends, tennis, dance, gymnastics, family time and meeting new people.
  Career Aspirations/Life Goals: When I grow up I want to be a teacher because I love working with younger kids. My lifelong goal is to go to college.
  Favorite thing to do in IGH? My favorite thing to do in Inver Grove Heights is the May Day 5K. I love the May Day 5K because it's the perfect way for me to get exercise and it's not a race.
  Why Do You Want to be a Member of the 2012 Inver Grove Heights Royal Family? I want to be a member of the Inver Grove Heights Royal Family because I want to be more involved in Inver Grove Heights and meet more people.

• Sophia
  School: Inver Grove Heights Middle School
  Hobbies/Interests: Some of my interests are reading, spending time with family and friends and playing my clarinet. My hobbies include swimming, diving, dance, tennis, golf, gymnastics, and figure skating.
  Career Aspirations/Life Goals: When I grow up I would like to either be a vet or an interior designer. I would like to have these careers because I love animals, and I have a great sense of decoration.
  Favorite Thing to Do in IGH? My favorite thing to do in Inver Grove Heights is the Parks and Recreation program because it offers a variety of sports I like to play. Also, I like to watch the parades and be part of the festivities offered at The Grove. I would like to be part of the royalty family because I want to represent and work in my community. I try to be a good role model. I would like to give back to the community for all I have been given.

  Hobbies/Interests: I love to play basketball and sing.
  Career Aspirations/Life Goals: I want to be a fashion designer when I grow up.
  Favorite thing to Do in IGH? The Grove water park is my favorite place in IGH.
  Why Do You Want to be a Member of the 2012 IGH Royal Family? The reason I want to be a member of the 2012 Royal family is because I would have the opportunity to meet and help a lot of people by volunteering.

  Interest/Hobbies: Performing on stage, cheerleading, talent shows, being on TV, and parades. I also like writing speeches to become part of team activities in school, like the Student Service Team. Arts and crafts, science and cooking.
  Career Aspirations/Life Goals: When I grow up I want to be a brain surgeon so I can save lives. My life goal is to help the world through community service.
  Favorite Thing to Do in IGH? My favorite thing to do in Inver Grove Heights is go to the community center.
  Why Do You Want to be a Member of the 2012 IGH Royal Family? I want to be a part of the community more. It would be a great experience. I would get to do all the fun, different events and activities. Plus, I can help others.

  Why Do You Want to be a Member of the 2012 IGH Royal Family? I would like to be a part of the 2012 Royal family because I think it would be fun and I've wanted to do it since I was a young girl.

Miss Inver Grove Heights Candidates

• Alicia Triviski
  School: Normandale Community College
  Interests/Hobbies: Going to Minnesota Wild games and to travel.
  Career Aspirations/Life Goals: Finish college within the next 2-3 years and start a new job with my degree.
  Favorite Thing to Do in IGH? Go to the movies and resturants in IGH with my friends.
  Why Do You Want to be a Member of the 2012 Inver Grove Heights Royal Family? Being part of a royal family would be a good experience because you would meet a lot of people who are part of different Royal families and also experience different cultures. It would be the experience of a lifetime.

• Ashley Harbaugh
  School: Simley High School
  Interests/Hobbies: I Like baking and decorating cakes and also playing the piano.
  Career Aspirations/Life Goals: My life goals are to finish high school, start college at Le Cordon Bleu and then start my own business.
  Favorite Thing to Do in IGH? My favorite things to do are going bowling, driving around and going shopping with friends and family.
  Why Do You Want to be a Member of the 2012 Inver Grove Heights Royal Family? I want to be part of the royal family because it would get me in the community and I could meet a lot of new people and even help those people who need the help or need someone to look up to. I would also like to become a member because it would get me out of my shy stage and give me more confidence about life.

• Cheyenne Anderson
  School: I am currently attending Inver Hills Community College pursuing a degree in Early Childhood Education.
  Interests/Hobbies: Some of my interests include dancing and reading. I started dancing at age three and have been involved with my different dance programs since then. I like to read books and magazines. My favorite author is Janet Evanovich; she is simply a great writer.
  Career Aspirations/Life Goals: I am aspiring to become a preschool teacher; I have wanted to be a preschool teacher ever since I was in preschool. I would love to go to Paris someday. I studied French in high school and have wanted to go there for many years.
  Favorite Thing to Do in IGH? My favorite thing to do in Inver Grove Heights is to teach dance at The Grove community center. This will be my third year teaching. I enjoy being a positive role model to all of my dance students and getting to teach them something that they might not have known before.
  Why Do You Want to be a Member of the 2012 IGH Royal Family? I would like to become a member of the Inver Grove Heights Royal Family because I think I would be a great role model for all types of people in the community. It does not matter if they are little children or teenagers; I feel that I could be a positive influence in their life. I would also like to learn more about the city itself and of course meet new friends.
