Northbound Hwy 52 to Close Tonight

Weather permitting, the northbound freeway will reopen by 5 a.m., Saturday, July 21.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) is planning to close northbound Highway 52—and the ramps in each direction of Interstate 94—at 8 p.m. tonight to allow crews to finish striping the northbound roadway.

Weather permitting, the northbound freeway will reopen by 5 a.m., Saturday, July 21.

With the opening Saturday morning, the ramp to eastbound I-94 from the northbound freeway will reopen. Work on the Central Corridor Light Rail Transit project will keep the ramp from northbound Hwy 52 to westbound I-94 closed until 5 a.m. Monday, July 23.

The recent lane and ramp closures allowed construction crews to rehabilitate the concrete surface of the roadway.

Moreover, the I-94 lane and ramp closures were needed so crews could modify piers for the new loop connecting northbound Hwy 52 to westbound I-94.

The only ramp to northbound 52 that will remain closed is the Plato ramp, which will reopen when the Lafayette Bridge project wraps up in 2014.
