Patch Poll: What To Do About the Vikings Stadium?

Today's Vikings-Bears game could be the final National Football League game in Minnesota for a while, considering Vikings' lease at the Metrodome is ending and no stadium financing plan has been set. What do you think should happen?

When the Minnesota Vikings take play the Chicago Bears in the final NFL game of the 2011-12 regular season today at the Metrodome—or as it's called now, Mall of America Field—will it be their final game as "Minnesota’s Team?"

As anyone who has been in this state for more than five minutes lately knows, the Vikings’ lease at the Metrodome ends after today’s game. And, the team is seeking a new stadium.

The team’s future in the state remains up in the air, as lawmakers have not made a final decision on whether government funding—in other words, tax dollars—would be used to help pay for construction of a billion-dollar stadium in either Arden Hills or Minneapolis.

The thought is that the Vikings would move to another city, possibly Los Angeles, if some sort of agreement on a new stadium doesn't materialize soon.

The stadium debate is expected to continue to into this year’s session of the Minnesota Legislature, which begins later this month.
