I listed my home with Edina Realty. So why can’t I find it online?

Why Edina Realty has pulled their listings from all major real estate websites.

They say in real estate, ‘the name of the selling game is exposure’. You don’t know where your potential buyer may come from, so you should try every avenue to find that certain individual. I recently had a seller contact me and asked why they couldn’t find their listing on any of the major real estate websites. Already being privy to inside information I asked him if he happened to be listed with Edina Realty. “As a matter of fact, it is”, he states. So what gives?

Recently, Edina Realty pulled its listings from a majority of real estate web sites for what reasons, I can only speculate. Now the only way for someone selling their home with Edina Realty to be noticed is if someone is looking at Edina Realty’s website or if they are working directly with a Realtor and are given access to the real MLS (future blogs will dive into this).

As a seller, you are potentially eliminating a large portion of the buyer pool when you don’t subject yourself to as many websites as possible. If you look at the more notable real estate websites like Realtor.com (the largest real estate finding site in the country), Trulia.com, or Zillow.com you will find that Edina Realty’s listings are nowhere to be found. Since they are not a nationally known company, this would also likely rule out the possibility of out-of-town buyers finding your home as well since they probably have never heard of Edina Realty.

In my opinion, we as Realtor’s do a disservice to our clients when we aren’t exploring every possible avenue to find a buyer for your home. I imagine most Realtors would strongly agree with this belief. I have my theories as to why they have gone this route and you can contact me for a more lively discussion. In the meantime, I implore you to do your homework and know what you’re getting into when you put your home on the market. It’s the largest investment you’ll likely ever have and one bad decision can cost you thousands.

Take Care,
