Five Guys restaurant

That's a great call, Peter. Five Guys is delicious!

A quilt/fabric shop!
Jeff Roberts (Editor) March 28, 2012 at 04:02 PM
That sounds interesting, Vikki. Do you mean like a JoAnn's or Hancock's? Or something different?

Anything besides a burger restaurant...like Olive Garden, Red lobster....ok, maybe a Texas roadhouse! Just something new! Igh needs more!
Jeff Roberts (Editor) March 28, 2012 at 05:18 PM
I've been hearing that a lot, Danyell. The building is in a great location for one of those restaurants to come in and make a splash.

We definitely could use more non-fast food restaurants! Or even a Noodles & Co or Panera. I would like to see a Starbucks in that neighborhood, also.

A Liquor store with whole sales price.

Allow me to play Devil's Advocate for a moment. Hooters satisfies the community call for a place to have dinner (i.e., steak, chicken, pasta, hamburgers) and would also add to the economy of a budding town center. Would IGH be OK with Hooters moving into this space?

What about a pool hall!? we have like no activities in igh
Anthony March 29, 2012 at 04:16 AM
or something like a Back To The 50's restaurant so cars could meet up!!

Any restaurant we don't already have in the area. Look at the restaurants in Minneapolis or northern suburbs, for example Dave and Busters.

While I agree with restaurants like Chipolte, Panera, even Noodles or Starbucks, the reality is, if you drive 3-4 miles down South Robert Trail to Robert Street those restaurants are already in place. I doubt then those franchises would put another similar restaurant so close. Subway is the only restaurant that seems to build multiple within such close proximity. Red Lobster, Dave and Busters, Olive Garden would all be great. Anything that is new and different than what we have would be great.

I think you raise a great point, Al. A relatively nice family sit-down restaurant might be just what the doctor ordered for that location.
Don March 30, 2012 at 02:22 AM
All of these restaruant ideas are good. I especially like the Olive Garden idea.

Not sure what the square footage of this building (or replacement building) is, so it's hard to know if any of the chain restaurants mentioned would fit. If there is enough space, then Red Lobster, Olive Garden, Famous Dave's, On the Border, etc. would be a nice addition. If not, then having the building split up into smaller independent shops would be nice.
Anita Buckner March 30, 2012 at 05:51 PM
I am with you. There are hardly any specialty shops here but that could be because the rent is too high for a store to start up. Especially a specialty store that will need to do so much advertising to let people know where they are. And a chain store...well that building doesn't look as though it is big enough for a Jo-Ann's or Micheal's. I would love to see one in Inver Grove though.
Jeff Roberts (Editor) March 30, 2012 at 05:58 PM
You're right, Ken, it's tough to know without knowing the square footage. There seems to be a big community call for a sit-down family restaurant though. I wonder if we contacted, for example, Red Lobster or Olive Garden would they pay attention? Let me look into this.
