taking responsibilty!!

It seems lately that no one will accept responsibility. TV Ads are full of lawyers who tell you to just call them for the maximum settlement they will get for you! There is no fault insurance, no fault divorce, no fault mortgages....the list is endless. But then, who assumes responsibility? What are we teaching our kids if it isn't OUR fault? Who is to blame?
Recently someone went through some cars in my town home parking lot, going through glove boxes and ransacking interiors, what they were seeking to find is beyond me. When I reported it to management staff, I was asked, "did you leave your car unlocked? Because if you did, you were just asking to have someone riffle through it!"
In the news recently, two women in Minneapolis were raped while walking at 2 a.m. Many who responded to this online have pointed out that if the women were NOT out at that time of night, it wouldn't have happened.
Now wait a minute!
Why is it that I, Ms. Law Abiding Citizen, has to live my life from a virtual jail cell to be "kept safe," all the while common criminals can walk free and do whatever they want to? Why is it that if a woman is out late at night, she is "asking to be raped?" Who the hell comes up with this garbage? This thinking is just as bad as what the perps do.....why can't people and things just be left alone....why do others think they have free reign over life, limb and property? Where are the parents who are supposed to be teaching their kids from an early age that "what is mine is mine...you have no right to it! You may ask and I may or may not let you see it or touch it. But you are NOT to just take whatever you see just because YOU WANT IT! Not by FORCE! Not by stealing! Not at all!"
Got it?
If not, go back to that last paragraph...reread it again. Responsibility...it starts with the parents....it starts with all of us...it starts--with YOU!!
