The Last Track cafe...gone!

For anyone who has dined at the Last Track cafe, it has been closed for about six months. The property was sold and it now sits vacant. Empty. Forlorn.

I loved the Last Track. To go in to that tiny restaurant, sitting among patrons who became instant friends as they'd partake in any conversation that was taking place, it was awesome. The waitress was always prompt with the hot coffee and a greeting, the food cooked to perfection! Best hash browns ever! I loved to watch the train as it followed the track up next to the ceiling and for added enjoyment, sometimes a real train would zip past just behind the restaurant, the walls shaking as it made its way either north or south.

Inver Grove no longer has any cute restaurants, except for the Cahill Diner. Although it is a sweet repost to a fifties era diner, it doesn't have the ambience of the Last Track. Once again, if you are looking for a great low cost meal, one has to trek into West St. Paul or Eagan to either the Baker's Square or else Perkins. This hardly seems fair in a city of 30,000 people to have to travel to another city to get a good meal, great conversation and have the feeling that you just stepped back into a place where the trains were the main source of transportation and the coffee is always ready to serve.

I am going to miss you, Last Track cafe. May the memories that we all have be sweet!
