A summary of corrections and clarifications in Inver Grove Heights Patch.

Inver Grove Heights Patch is committed to accuracy, to acknowledging our mistakes, and to fixing them as quickly as possible to maintain the trust of the reader.

We do this because we understand that being credible is essential to do our job as journalists and earning your trust is something we must do every day with every story. This transparency is part of that.

So when we publish factual mistakes, you'll see an editor's note in italics at the bottom of the story with a brief explanation. We do our best to get the facts right, but we're still human. If you see a factual error, contact Local Editor David Henke at david.henke@patch.com and we'll verify and correct the error as soon as we can.

  • Correction: A story from Feb. 25, "Spartans Advance Three Teams, Eight Individuals To Section Swimming Finals," incorrectly identifed the location of the section finals competition. The story was corrected and Patch posted a note to alert readers.
  • Correction: A story from Feb. 7, "Atkins Supports Reduction in Legislators' Salaries," incorrectly stated in the headline that Minnesota legislators are paid an annual stipend. The story was corrected and Patch posted a note to alert readers.
  • Correction: In a story from Dec. 17, "Simley Boys Hockey Fights Back to Victory," Coach Jim Joseph's last name was incorrect. The story was corrected and Patch posted a note to alert readers.
  • Clarification: A story published on March 8 was modified to clarify the city of Inver Grove Heights' fee policy for its Frisbee golf course. Although the North and South Valley Parks Frisbee golf course is a free facility, city officials began selling annual passes for the course on a limited basis in 2010 in conjunction with South St. Paul, which operates a pay-to-play Frisbee golf course at Kaposia Park.
  • Correction: A story published on April 5 incorrectly stated that a campus-wide smoking ban at Inver Hills Community College is already in place. The ban will be implemented in Aug. 2011.
  • Correction: A story published on April 15 incorrectly spelled the last name of Recreation Superintendent Tracy Petersen
  • Correction: A story published on May 3 incorrectly identified the legislative number of a redistricting bill, and contained a link to the incorrect bill. The bill number is HF 1425.
  • Correction: A story published on May 9 incorrectly stated which state several Destination ImagiNation teams from Inver Grove Heights are traveling to for an international competition. They are competing in Knoxville, Tenn.
  • Correction: The subject of a photo published on May 10 was incorrectly identified in the photo caption. The tennis player in the photo is Simley High School student Carver Peterson.
  • Correction: A story published on May 23 incorrectly stated that Running Aces Harness Park in Columbus is included in a racino bill proposed by Sen. Dan Sparks. The park is not included in the legislation. As a result, the revenue Sparks' proposal would generate would likely be lower than the $250 million estimated earlier this year by Sen. Jim Metzen.
  • Correction: An article published on June 1 incorrectly spelled Lt. Eric Roeske's last name. This article has been changed to correct the error.
  • Correction: An article published on June 2 incorrectly stated the times of an open house for the Rock Island Swing Bridge. The story was corrected and Patch posted a note to alert readers.
  • Correction: A story published on June 10 contained an inaccuracy. Inver Hills Community College faculty may also be affected by layoffs if the state government shuts down.
  • Correction: Due to incorrect information given to Patch by School District 199, stories published on May 17 and May 27 contained inaccuracies. In the 2010-2011 school year, the school district had 210 kindergarten students, 114 of which were enrolled in all-day kindergarten.
  • Correction: A story published on June 14 contained an inaccuracy. Dakota County master gardeners held an event at Pine Bend Elementary School in Inver Grove Heights.
  • Correction: A story published on Aug. 30 incorrectly spelled Alanna Seppelt's last name. The article was changed to correct the error.
  • Correction: An article published on Aug. 30 contained an inaccuracy. Jersey's Bar and Grill golf tournament raised $3,800 for charity.
