Get Out: Weekend Events in and around Inver Grove Heights

  • Pool Special Event: Splash and Dine
    When/Where:
      Friday, Oct. 14 at , 8055 Barbara Ave, Inver Grove Heights.
    Why Go:
    It’s an exciting and fun theme night: Bring the family and enjoy swimming and a pizza dinner in the pool. This is open to all ages, but children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult. You do not need to register.
    Price:
    Free for members of the community center; $4 per person after 5:30 p.m. for non-members, $3 for pizza and a beverage.
  • Black Light Dodgeball
    When/Where:
    7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 14 at Veterans Memorial Community Center, 8055 Barbara Ave, Inver Grove Heights.
    Why Go: When you mix together a DJ, dodgeball and a blacklight, you get this exciting night of fun in the dark. Bring your family or group of friends together for this party. White t-shirts, markers, dodgeballs and a DJ will be provided. Ages 8-11: 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Ages 12 and up: 8:15 p.m. to 9:15 p.m.
    Price: $8
  • Inver Grove Heights Fire Department Open House
    When/Where:
    Noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday at Station #3 at 2059 Upper 55th Street.
    Why Go: Fire truck displays, inflatable games a fire extinguisher demo and more are on tap for the Inver Grove Heights Fire Department open house this Sunday.
    Price: Free
  • Fire Department Open House in Rosemount
    When/Where:
    11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Fire Station No. 1 at 14700 Shannon Pkwy., Rosemount.
    Why Go:
    In celebration of Fire Prevention Week, the annual Rosemount Fire Department Open House will feature an auto extrication, North Air Care helicopter, air bag safety demo, fire and smoke safety house, "Sparky" the fire dog and more.

  • Midwest Comic Book Association’s FallCon Comic Book Party
    When/Where:
    10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15 at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds (Progress Center), 1621 Randall Ave. in St. Paul
    Why Go:
    With numerous comic book dealers from across the USA, this event is dubbed a “super gigantic comic book marketplace” filled with fun, including free autographs, costumed characters, grab bags, door prizes, unusual displays and—of course—comic books galore.
    Price:
      Tickets are $8 at the door, but the event is free for children nine years old and under. Get $1 off with a canned food shelf donation. Free parking is available.
