Get Out: Weekend Events in and around Inver Grove Heights

When/Where?  11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sun. Sept. 25 at Caponi Art Park (Exhibition area), 1220 Diffley Road in Eagan

Why Go?  Visit the annual Medieval Fair and discover what it was like to live during the Middle Ages in the wooded setting of Caponi Art Park. You’ll experience educational demonstrations and activities that will include rapier and armored combat, music, weaponry and armorers, storytelling Bards, jugglers, cooking, period games, heraldry, glass bead making, and other arts and skills. A siege engine (a type of catapult) and wool-dyeing demos have been added this year. Local Boy Scout Troop 293 from Apple Valley will provide food at the event as a fundraiser for their group. They will have pulled turkey sandwiches with chips and a pickle, coffee, pop and water for sale.

Price:  Free admission, with a $4 per person suggested donation.

When/Where? 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Fri. Sept. 23, and 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Sat. Sept. 24 at Harriet Island Regional Park

Why Go?  Experience, explore and celebrate all things Italian – authentic music and entertainment, award-winning cuisine and spirits from various vendors, activities, cultural exhibits and folk art. You can even participate in an Italian motor bike ride for charity through St. Paul's historic Italian levee neighborhood, and  Gondola Romantica will be offering rides on the Mississippi River.

Price:  Free admission


The Collectibles Roadshow

When/Where?  11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Sat. Sept. 24 at the Wescott Library (Dakota County Library in Eagan – Wescott Meeting Room, Lower Level), 1340 Wescott Rd.

Why Go?  Here’s a fun opportunity to bring your family heirlooms for appraisal by experts from Stillwater's Midtown Antiques. If you have items that are too large to carry, bring photos taken from the front and side angles. If the large item has drawers, bring in a single drawer.

Price:  Free

 

Lone Oak Days at Holz Farm Park

When/Where?  11:00am to 4:00pm, Sat. Sept. 24 at Holz Farm Park, 4669 Manor Dr., Eagan

Why Go?  Celebrate the harvest and have some autumn fun at this 1940’s era farm park. Hosted by the Friends of the Farm and Eagan Parks and Recreation, this event will include musical entertainment, hayrides, blacksmithing demos, pony rides, barnyard animals and picnic style food.

Price:  Free admission. Food and some activities require tickets can be purchased at the event for 50 cents each.


Noodle Night at the Pool

When/Where? 6:15 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Fri., Sept. 23 at Veterans Memorial Community Center, 8055 Barbara Ave. in Inver Grove Heights

Why Go?  Take part in an exciting and fun theme night in the pool – the community center’s first-ever Noodle Night. Swim lesson noodles will be available for play in the lap pool.  This event is open to all ages, and there’s no need to register – just show up.  Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.

Price: Free for members of the Community Center. Non-members must pay the daily admission fee to participate – $7.50 per person; $19.50 per family.  After 5:30 p.m., the special Twilight discounted rate of $4 per person applies.
