Inver Grove Heights Week in Review April 11 through April 17

Patch looks back on the events, people and issues that made the headlines last week.

This week started with a bang when that they met twice with Target Corp. representatives. City Administrator Joe Lynch couldn't disclose many of the details, but said that Target expects to make a decision on the development of a proposed SuperTarget in Inver Grove within 60 days.

Not to be outdone, the Inver Grove Heights School Board held the first of many meetings to discuss the possibility of a this November. The district has cut more than $6 million over a decade, and at least two members of the board hope a tax increase could bolster dwindling state aid.

Inver Grove Heights Patch also profiled a program that allows high school students to issue penalties for first-time juvenile offenders. Called the Peer Court, it's giving Simley students an invaluable look into the criminal justice system.

Simley spring sports picked up this week, and Patch covered several Spartans baseball and softball games, including the softball team's of a loss to Richfield.

On Friday, Patch learned that vandals, protesting the implementation of a fee system at the city's Frisbee golf course, at North and South Valley Parks. The Inver Grove Heights Police department is also investigating a that took place Friday morning along a busy city road.
