UPDATED: Inver Grove Heights Week in Review Feb. 21 to Feb. 27

Patch looks back on the events, people and issues that made the headlines last week.

Patch started the week with a on local legislators' opposition to a statewide bill that would freeze school district employees' salaries through 2013. Both District 39 Sen. Jim Metzen (DFL) and District 39B Rep. Joe Atkins (DFL), say the proposed bill is a blow to local school boards, because it would strip the boards of control over salaries in the district.

Patch's most-viewed story of the week was a tale of two '' who helped a police officer subdue and arrest a dangerous suspect. The pair, Tony Cadotte and Greg Groenjes, were recognized at an Inver Grove Heights City Council meeting last week for their actions.

Several local sports teams have been gearing up for sections or even state competitions. This week, Patch put together a to purchasing tickets and attending the state wrestling tournament, which starts next week. After defeating Mahtomedi in sections, the Spartans wrestling team will be making its fourth consecutive appearance at state. Look for in-depth coverage of the tournament next week.

The Simley High School boys swimming team participated in and finals this week, and will send four individuals and two relay teams to state next week.
