Inver Grove Heights Week in Review June 13-19

Jacob Robert Anhalt, 23, was , with 172 days credit for time already served, for his role in an unusual armed robbery and burglary in Inver Grove Heights last December. Police say Anhalt and two other men robbed a victim and burglarized his house while armed with a broadsword and battle ax.

The Inver Grove Heights Police Department for retired police lieutenant Jerry Salmey. Sgt. Sean Folmar, a 16-year veteran of the department, was promoted to the rank of lieutenant early this week. He will oversee the department's patrol officers.

Inver Hills Community College President Tim Wynes is breathing a little easier, if the state government shuts down on July 1. Minnesota State Colleges and Universities officials were notified Wednesday by Gov. Mark Dayton’s office that MnSCU will receive the support it needs to remain open from Minnesota Management and Budget—the agency that oversees the school's finances.

City officials are near the Inver Grove Heights Middle School, if the city can secure federal grant funding for the project. The city applied for as much as $340,000 to install a median and turn lanes at the intersection of 81st Street and Cahill Avenue.
