Inver Grove Heights Police Department Lt. Jerry Salmey after three decades of police work this week. Salmey, who oversaw the department's patrol division, says the thrill of the chase is still his favorite part of being a police officer.

Fourth-grader Jillian Wilhelmson has plenty to celebrate: The Pine Bend Elementary School student earned herself a pizza party, a $100 savings bond and more for designing the winning button for Inver Grove Heights Days. Wilhelmson's design, a drawing of a muscular Spartan holding an American flag, will be featured on the admission buttons sold for the 2011 IGH Days.

Area law enforcement agencies are around Minnesota, which often means underage drinking and driving—and potentially serious consequences. While most county sheriffs—and the Inver Grove Heights Police Department— don’t step up patrols specifically to coincide with graduation nights, they’re aware that underage drinking and DUIs are likely when new graduates and friends get together to celebrate.

Last week, the Inver Grove Heights City Council voted 4-1 to approve an $18,530 contract with architectural firm Partners & Sirny to help design the facilities at Heritage Village Park—which may include picnic shelters, renovated historical buildings, a restroom facility and other structures. Councilor Bill Klein cast the lone vote in opposition to the measure.

The city's $2.4 million —now a fishing pier—is complete. And city officials are inviting you to come view the results. From 10am to noon on Saturday, June 11, the city will hold a public open house. Inver Grove Heights Parks and Recreation Department staff will be on hand to discuss the project.

More than two years after the longtime King of Diamonds Gentlemen’s Club owner sold the business to his ex-wife, Susan Kladek, the business is Under an amended Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization plan filed on April 18, all of the shares for Kladek, Inc. would be transferred from Susan Kladek and Larry Kladek to Larry’s daughter, Debra Kalsbeck.
