Patch Picks: Mom's Special Day
Runner? Movie fan? Gardening enthusiast? There are lots of ways to help Mom celebrate this weekend.
B.E.S.T. Foundation 13th Annual May Day 5K
Lace up those running shoes and run/walk right alongside Mom during this event for the whole family on Saturday, May 7. Registrations will be accepted from 7:30am to 8:30am at Veteran's Memorial Community Center and the race begins at 8:45. Entry fee is $10 for adults, $5 for students and free for kids three and under. For a family of four or more, there is a flat fee of $25.
Get Going in the Garden
Bring Mom over to Gertens Garden Center — recently named the Best Garden Center for 2011 by City Pages — and help her find the perfect hanging basket, garden accessories, flats of flowers and more. 5500 Blaine Avenue.
Take Mom to the Movies
She can check out a book club favorite, "Water for Elephants," see Kate Hudson's latest rom-com "Something Borrowed," or the whole family can enjoy the G-rated favorite "Rio: The Movie." Don't forget the popcorn! AMC Showplace, 5567 Bishop Avenue.

Breakfast or Lunch at Jersey's

A Day at the Zoo
