PHOTOS: Keeping Cool in the Heat

As temperatures reached 100 degrees on Tuesday, the people of Inver Grove Heights sought relief in various outlets.

With a heat advisory issued Tuesday throughout the Twin Cities, Inver Grove Heights residents tried out all sorts of activities to beat the heat.

Last week, people were basking in temperatures in the 70s. Now it has jumped over twenty degrees. After battling several snowstorms, residents are ready to face a new enemy: summer heat.

“My friends at the bus said it was going to be 100 degrees out,” Lilly Langdon, 6, said. Langdon enjoyed a Dairy Queen Blizzard with her mom Janelle, brother David, and grandma Jan Cannon Tuesday afternoon after her kindergarten graduation.

“In my room I was so hot and sweaty,” Langdon said, “I had to sleep with all the covers off.”

Others are diving into whatever water they can find to cool off.

Anna Biljan, 17, hoped to get some color on her skin during the extreme heat.

“I’m playing some water volleyball in between tanning,” Biljan said.

Matt Kadrlik, 17, said he wasn’t fond of the high temperature.

“I don’t like it,” Kadrlik said. “I’m a cold weather guy.”

Tammy Sampson owns a Tammy’s Tots Daycare and brings out the sprinkler for kids on hot days like this. Her son Michael and his friend Kieran found happiness in the backyard swimming pool.
