Three Simley Wrestlers Win State Championships as Team Finishes Second

Jake Short won his fourth state championship, and the Simley wrestling team finished second place in the state tournament.

Just three Simley wrestlers now hold a combined total of ten individual state championships.

Jake Short won his fourth state championship at 152 pounds, Nick Wanzek his third championship at 170 pounds and Kyle Gliva his third at 132 pounds over the weekend, according to the school's announcements.

Short, the and Wanzek had perfect 49-0 seasons.

Simley's team finished second in the state tournament, beating Chisago Lakes and Foley to advance to the state final, but losing the championship 30-27 to Kasson Mantorville.

Mack Short finished second in the 145-pound weightclass, and Wayne Voss took fifth place at 160 pounds.
