Spartans Entertain Irondale under the Harvest Moon

The last days of summer will feature Simley's non-conference game against North Suburban's Irondale High School. The Irondale Knights are coming off a 42 - 21 loss to South St. Paul. But the Knights have two wins already this year: defeating Northfield and Spring Lake Park.

Our Spartans are feeling pretty good after last week's 31 - 28 win over Hill-Murray. Simley, led by sophomore quarterback Michael Busch, led at the half, 23 - 14. A furious Hill-Murray comeback in the 4th quarter threatened the Spartans, but time ran out on the Pioneers. Simley had its first win of the season.

Tonight's game will be a great test for the Spartans. Knowing that Irondale lost to South St. Paul should be an added incentive. Our Spartans would like to finish the first half to the season with two wins. Entering the second half of the season with two wins would give the coaches and players momentum to position themselves for the playoffs at the end of October.

The game time is 7:00 pm at Simley High School. It will be a cool late summer evening with the Harvest Moon overhead. A great setting under Friday night lights!
