Inver Grove Area Looks to a New Future

The Minnesota state legislature recently released maps with new legislative district lines point to a new direction for Inver Grove Heights residents. How will the new district affect you?

The Minnesota state legislature recently released maps with new legislative district lines drawn to reflect the changes in population and demographics cited by the 2000 U.S. Census. The new state house district map especially shows how changes in the last ten years point to a new direction for Inver Grove Heights residents.

The city council and local school board have talked for some time about the new trends in Inver Grove residents and families. Our community is becoming more and more diverse. Even though the recession has slowed the housing and development market, more and more new families are moving into the area as older Inver Grove residents move on. Entrepreneurs and small business owners are a big part of this group, and many are immigrants (with Hispanics forming the largest single group). They have moved to the Inver Grove Heights area because we have good schools, a safe community and opportunities for them to establish their family's roots here.

One other trend is that more and more of our residents are politically conservative, identifying themselves as either conservative independents or Republicans. The combination of new residents, changing attitudes about the proper role of government and an entrenched recession highlighting glaring inefficiencies and overspending by government clearly points to a new political direction for the Inver Grove Heights area.

The local Republican Party organization is not the "same old same old" either. New leaders with clarity and focus have re-energized the organization, brought new ideas and talents to reach out to our community and engage voters in a fresh discussion about our priorities and values for elected officials. We want to get to know everyone in our community, and we want everyone in our community to get to know what the Republican Party really stands for.

That's why we invite you to our first annual “Pig Roast in the Park” on June 4th at South Valley Park. We want to know how you would like to 'cut the pork' at all levels of government, but especially at the local and state levels that affect us most directly. Children under 12 are free and free child supervision will be available so the adults can talk while the children play on the playground. United States Representative John Kline will help us cut the pork, and Minnesota GOP State Chairman Tony Sutton, Congressional District 2 Republican Chair Terry McCall and Minnesota College Republicans State Chair Ryan Lye will all be on hand to share their vision for the future of Inver Grove Heights.
