Keeping Inver Grove Heights Schools on Top

Another school year is upon us and students are getting back into the swing of things as their summer activities take a back seat to engaging classroom assessments and other educational experiences. Inver Grove Heights schools have prided themselves in recent years on becoming innovators in the classroom and leaders in the field of education.

Last week, ISD 199 announced that Simley High School was one of only three schools in the state to receive the Star of Innovation Award, awarded by the Minnesota Association of Secondary School Principals. Simley was also named by Newsweek as a top school in America for the fourth consecutive year. The Washington Post echoed the sentiments by naming Simley the 15th best public high school in the state.

While awards and rankings are great to promote the image of our schools and to attract families to relocate to Inver Grove Heights, student and teacher performance are at the forefront of the educational experiences our children receive during their academic careers.

On Thursday, September 15, ISD 199 Superintendant Dee Wells will be at Drakula’s to address the HD39B Republicans’ monthly meeting. She will be discussing the state of education in Inver Grove Heights and will answer questions about what effect the passage of three referendums would have on residents and students of Inver Grove Heights. The meeting starts at 6:30pm in the lower lounge.

HD39B Republicans has also invited members of the Minnesota House and Senate Education Committee to provide perspective of what is happening at the state level in regards to education spending.
