Gillette Children's Hospital

On Monday, December 30, the Inver Grove Heights Royal Sisters visited

Gillette Children's Hospital.   We were able to tour the hospital and visit

a training room with "robot" children.  It was set up to look exactly like an operating room and we were able to "perform a surgery" -- we pulled candy from a "stomach" with an operating instrument with the use of a scope.  It was pretty cool!!  We then toured the area where they make braces of all kinds.  They were in the process of making a back brace for a young person

-- pretty neat!  Gillette Children's Hospital has a small version of the Ronald McDonald Charity House in their building.  It was neat to see how they help families that live far away, or need to stay overnight in this "homey" area with bedrooms, kitchen and family room.  Within the last couple of years, they have added an entire building dedicated to rehabilitation.

It was really cool to learn how they work with the children there by the use of a playground, etc.  I think I speak for all my Royal Sisters when I say that we would gladly visit again!!
