BLOG: Who is Paul Tuschy and Why Does He Want to be Your Representative?

candidate for Minnesota House 52b goes on the record...

I have been receiving e-mails from people who thank me for clearly stating where I stand on legislative issues. Many want to know more about me personally, so today I want to share more about myself with you.

Growing up on a dairy farm, I learned a lot about hard work and family values. I was blessed with great parents. My father sold his cows this past June after milking cows for 50 years and is now just growing crops. My mother is currently working at a library and is in charge of children’s programming there.

Both of my parents played several instruments and my brother and I began learning to play music at a young age. Music has always been a passion of mine. When I was 18, I moved to Minneapolis to study music at North Central University (a private Christian college). While going to school full time I often worked several jobs (usually over 40 hours a week) to pay my hefty tuition bills.

After meeting and marrying my amazing wife, Marie, and earning my B.A. in Music, I took a job as the Creative Arts Director at a church in Inver Grove Heights. I arranged music, organized the many volunteers in our creative arts program, directed the worship team, and the choir, and kept myself busy serving in a wide variety of ministries in the church.

In 2005, Marie and I moved to Inver Grove Heights where we bought our first home.

I currently work in the music industry booking and promoting live concerts all over the greater Midwest, running my own private music lessons studio, and playing drums in an internationally-known band.

In addition to my music career, I run a home-based business. My current professional endeavors provide a somewhat flexible schedule, which allows me to be involved in my church and local politics.

Another passion of mine has been fighting for limited, responsible government. I have been active in supporting candidates, working on campaigns, and have also served on the Executive Committee of the local Republican Party since 2006.

Besides music and politics, I also enjoy fishing, hunting, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. I hope to have some time to once again pursue these interests after this campaign is finished in just a few short weeks.

I am not a career politician and I do not intend to become one. I have never run for public office before, but I decided to do so now because Minnesota needs more citizen-legislators who are more concerned about the community and the state than being re-elected.

Our legislative representatives must understand that more government spending and more debt do not make Minnesotans more prosperous.

Freedom is what allows Minnesotans to be prosperous.

The people deserve honest leadership which will fight to preserve our values in the face of special interests.

I encourage anyone who has specific questions about me, or what I stand for, to contact me directly. I LOVE talking with the people of this district, as evidenced by the hundreds of hours I have spent during the campaign attempting to reach each and every one of you.

I thank you for all of the affirmation I receive as I knock on doors and have the opportunity to talk with many of you. I am deeply grateful for the support that I’ve received from the people of Inver Grove Heights, Sunfish Lake, Mendota Heights and Eagan during this campaign. I appreciate your trust, and I’ll work hard to be worthy of it.

When we live free, we live better. I look forward to sharing more ideas and highlighting the differences between myself and my opponent in future blogs.
