Blotter: High School Student Charged with Disorderly Conduct

18-year-old "sucker punched" another in the head during the school day, according to police reports from Feb. 12 through Feb. 18.

Feb. 14

12:48pm — Police were called to Simley High School on reports that an 18-year-old student struck another student. Police arrived and found the victim "extremely upset," according to reports. The victim told police that the 18-year-old assailant "sucker punched" him in the side of the head and threw him into some cardboard boxes after a heated argument in the cafeteria. Officers observed that the suspects's right hand appeared to be broken. The victim declined to press charges, but the assailant was charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct after school district officials chose to pursue charges, according to the report.

Feb. 15

10:30am — Police responded to reports of a male smoking marijuana and walking along Upper 55th Street, but were unable to find the suspect. A witness told an officer that the occupants of an apartment were attempting to sell "weed." An officer knocked on the door of the apartment in question after smelling a strong odor of burnt marijuana emanating from the unit, but no one answered. At the time of the report, no one had been charged in connection with the alleged crime. An intelligence report was sent to the Dakota County Drug Task Force.

10:30am — Police responded to a disorderly conduct call at the 8100 block of Cahill Avenue.

Feb. 16

7:14am — Police responded to a report of a burglary on the 4600 block of Blaine Avenue. The victim told officers that a person broke into an unlocked vehicle in a driveway and took two electronic garage door openers. The burglar then used the openers to break into a garage. Nothing was taken, besides the garage door openers, according to reports.

7:27am — Police responded to a report of a burglary on the 4600 block of Blaine Avenue. A 27-year-old victim told officers that someone entered his unlocked garage and rummaged through two vehicles parked inside. One GPS unit was taken. The victim also told police his neighbor's garage was burglarized. Police had no witnesses or suspects at the time of the report.

Feb. 18

3:37am — Police responded to reports of a burglary on the 7400 block of Dickman Trail E.

1:33pm — Police responded to reports of a person disturbing the peace on the 5600 block of Bishop Avenue.
