Blotter: Seeing Fire, Neighbor Rushes to Help Family

Domestic accident, disorderly conduct incidents also recorded in the Inver Grove Heights police reports for Nov. 11-18.

Nov. 11

2:35 p.m.—The Inver Grove Heights Police and Fire Departments responded to a report of a large brush fire on the 7500 block of Babcock Trail E. The fire department extinguished the fire, which was threatening a nearby greenhouse. The fire appeared to be accidental.

7:33 p.m.—Police responded to a first degree DWI incident on the 4200 block of Denton Way E.

3:43 p.m.—Police responded to a report of identity theft on the 6500 block of Craig Ave. E.

11:25 p.m.—Police responded to a report of a domestic assault on the 3100 block of 65th St.

Nov. 15

6:49 p.m.—Police were dispatched to a home at the 6100 block of Carmen Ave. E. on a report of a disturbance. Upon arriving, the officer spoke with a 36-year-old woman engaged in a yelling match with her neighbors. The woman told the officer that one of the women next door had threatened to knock her out during a verbal dispute, and that she and her neighbors have had plenty of problems because they always host loud parties. The officer then spoke with the 26-year-old neighbor, who complained that the first woman had insulted her in front of her children.

Nov. 16

11:30 p.m.—Police were dispatched to a domestic on the 6800 block of Cloman Ave. E. While en route, the officers were informed that a woman's 45-year-old son had punched her in the face, pushed her and then left the residence. Police began searching the area, and spoke with the woman, who said the man got angry after a dispute over a glass of orange juice. While police were searching the area, the man returned and locked himself in a bedroom in the woman's house. Police gained entry to the room and arrested the man, who told officers he had taken 20 Xanax and 60 Ativan pills. Officers brought him to a hospital to be checked out before transporting him to jail.

Nov. 18

3:08 a.m.—Police and fire crews responded to a structure fire on the 6300 block of Dilley Ave. E. Upon arrival, the crews found a detached garage fully engulfed by flames. Police located the residents of the home and, while the fire department fought the fire, spoke with a 54-year-old neighbor. The neighbor told police she had heard several loud bangs, and saw smoke and a small fire in the garage. She called 911, and while she was on the phone ran over to wake the residents of the home and get them a safe distance from the fire.

9 a.m.—Police responded to a fifth-degree assault incident on the 2900 block of 80th St. E.

9:50 a.m.—Police responded to a weapons call on the 4400 block of Denton Way E.

9:57 a.m.—Police responded to a report of a suicide attempt on the 5400 block of Audobon Ave.
