Blotter: Teasing Turns into Fight Involving Airsoft Gun

July 28

9:58 p.m.—Police and fire crews responded to a report of a fire in Skyline Village on the 4200 block of Denton Way. While driving through the manufactured home park, officials noticed a large bonfire in a side yard with four people sitting around it. The fire department put the fire out and the property owner was advised that he cannot burn anything in a manufactured home park in the city.

July 29

11:10 p.m.—Police were dispatched to a report of a fight involving a knife on the 5400 block of Audobon Ave. The officer arrived and met a 27-year-old male with a bloody lip who appeared to be "angry." The man told officers that another male punched him in the face after an argument. After the punch, the victim told the alleged attacker he had a knife on him. Officers also spoke to the alleged attacker, who said the 27-year-old had charged a group of people, and that he had punched the victim to protect another man. Police found a knife in the pocket of the 27-year-old's pants. Officers gave warnings to all involved.

July 30

2 a.m.—Police responded to a report of a burglary on the 5400 block of Audobon Ave.

2:07 a.m.—Police were dispatched to the 3100 block of 65th Street E. on reports of a fight involving a gun. Upon arriving at the scene, several officers formed a perimeter around the building. When they entered the building, the officers could hear an ongoing verbal argument. The homeowner involved in the argument invited police in, and told them that he and a 22-year-old man had been making fun of each other, until the teasing escalated into a fight. The officers found a airsoft gun the size, color and weight of a real firearm in the apartment. The homeowner told police that he threatened to get the gun so that the 22-year-old would leave the apartment. Police confiscated the weapon, but neither party decided to press charges.

Aug. 2

10:55 p.m.—Police responded to a drug-related incident involving a small amount of marijuana on the 10500 block of Rich Valley Blvd.

Aug. 3

1:51 p.m.—Police responded to a report of a burglary on the 6500 block of Dawn Way E. The homeowner told officers that someone broke into his garage overnight and stole a chainsaw. Officers believe the suspect gained entrance to the garage by unscrewing the lock holder on a padlocked door.

8:30 p.m.—Police responded to a report of a missing person on the 2800 block of Upper 79th Ct. E. An employee at a group home stated that a vulnerable adult left the home and was overdue to return. Early the next morning, the attendant called police to report the person had returned unharmed to the home.

Aug. 4

5:55 p.m.—Police responded to a trespassing/drug paraphernalia incident on the 3000 block of 80th St. E.

7:31 p.m.—Police responded to a report of a burglary on the 7500 block of Cloman Way.
