Dakota County Police Chiefs to Honor Several Inver Grove Heights Officers Friday

Officers from departments around Dakota County will be recognized Friday for exceptional work in law enforcement.

A host of Inver Grove Heights' finest will receive recognition tomorrow morning at the third annual Dakota County Chiefs of Police Association 2012 awards breakfast.

The awards recognize work done by officers around Dakota County in 2012.

"It's the third year we've presented an award to members of Dakota County law enforcement," said Dakota County Sheriff Dave Bellows. "The actions being recognized reflect just a portion of the great work being done on a daily basis throughout our Dakota County communities."

A pair of Inver Grove Heights officers will receive an Award of Honor. Chris Wegner and Joseph Boche of IGHPD were part of a team who, in January of 2012, helped respond to a suicidal man in IGH. The award will be presented by the chiefs association.

Also receiving an Award of Honor will be Officers Joe Robertson and Eric Bohrer or IGHPD for their response to a shots fire call in March 2012. This award is presented by the City of Inver Grove Heights and the chiefs association.

The Citizens Award of Excellence will be presented to Pastor Jim Bzkoskie, who has served as the chaplain for Dakota County Jail for more than 34 years.

Other awards will be presented to officers from Burnsville, South St. Paul, West St. Paul, Rosemount and Mendota Heights.

The banquet is set for 8:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 13 at Mendakota Country Club in Mendota Heights.
