Drug Busts Abound Around Town

The Dakota County Attorney has charged several people with drug violations in and around Inver Grove Heights.

  • David C. Boughton (31) of Minneapolis was found in a car, slapping his face with both hands, while parked in an Inver Grove Heights store lot on Feb. 18. When an officer asked him what he was doing, he said that the officer should know, because he had been filming him for 25 minutes. The officer said he had just arrived on the scene. Boughton had a clenched jaw, spoke rapidly, was sweating and his pupils were dilated. An additional officer advised that he had seen a “loaded” syringe in plain view.  During a search, one of the officers found a plastic bag for syringes and a small amount of a white powdery substance on Boughton.  Boughton said he did not know about the items, and that the pants he was wearing belonged to a friend. As officers searched Boughton’s vehicle, they found multiple syringes. The white powder was later determined to be methamphetamine.
  • On Feb. 19, a car was stopped in South St. Paul for a minor traffic violation. When the driver, Renae L. Cranston (22), of Woodbury, rolled the window down, officers noticed a strong odor of perfume and marijuana. They subsequently found two bags of marijuana, a sandwich bag filled with psilocybin mushrooms, and a prescription bottle containing three acetaminophen and hydrocodone bitartrate pills. Cranston admitted that she had bought the mushrooms in December, and that she sometimes sells small amounts of marijuana to her friends, but said that most of the marijuana (46.7 grams in total) was for her personal use.
  • On Dec. 20, police officers executed a narcotics search warrant in an Inver Grove Heights home. They found several crack pipes and other drug paraphernalia, and a small amount of marijuana. The home’s resident, Keith L. Davis (53), admitted that the crack pipes were his, and stated that he uses marijuana for medicinal purposes.
  • Inver Grove Heights Police stopped a vehicle on Dec. 6, because the driver was not wearing a seat belt. While the officer waited for backup, he noticed that the defendant tried to stuff an object in the space between the driver’s seat and the door. The defendant, Jeremy D. Munson (28), of Annandale, was told to get out of the car, and a pipe was found. The pipe tested positive for methamphetamine.
