High-Speed Chase Driver Headed to Trial After Judge Finds Probable Cause

If convicted of the most serious offense—fleeing a peace officer resulting in substantial bodily harm—Eric Tyler Lee, 19, could spend up to five years in prison and be ordered to pay a $10,000 fine.

Dakota County District Court Judge Arlene Pekkio found sufficient probable cause Monday morning to bring the case against 19-year-old Eric Tyler Lee to trial.

Lee is charged with criminal vehicular operation, fleeing a peace officer, recieving stolen property and financial transaction card fraud—all felonies— after a , that ended with him striking a home in 

The alleged passenger of the vehicle—a juvenile—was released to parents following the incident.

Lee pleaded not guilty to the charges just prior to Judge Pekkio ruling that the case should be heard by a jury.

Lee is being held in the Dakota County Jail on an $80,000 bond. His settlement conference is scheduled for Aug. 22 and, if necessary, Lee's jury trial will begin Sept. 10.
