IGH Fire Station Open House Sunday

The Oct. 13 event is part of Fire Prevention Week. Learn about safety and have fun with the family.

The Inver Grove Heights Fire Department will be hosting their annual Fire Prevention Week Open House noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13.

The open house will be at IGH Fire Station 3 located at 2059 Upper 55th Street.

The family-friendly event will have opportunities to learn about fire safety, tour the fire trucks, have a snack and take a picture with a firefighter.

Those who attend are being asked to “Support Our Troops” by bringing in a new item to donate to the women and men in the military, according to a news release from the IGH Fire Department.

Items sought include:

  • Cotton or wool socks (black, olive green or white)
  • Prepaid phone cards
  • Non-perishable microwave foods
  • Ready to eat snacks
  • Nuts and jerky
  • Toiletries:  shampoo, conditioner, lotions, deodorant, etc. (please no free samples, or hotel samples)
  • Board games

If you can’t make it to the open house, items continue to be collected between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Oct. 14-18, 2013 at the fire window at City Hall, 8150 Barbara Avenue.
