IGH Man Arrested for 'Carrying Under the Influence'

Mathew John Lohr, 33, is charged with multiple counts of DUI as well as "carrying under the influence" after an incident early Monday morning.

An Inver Grove man faces five separate charges after he allegedly clipped a woman with his car, then drove away from a domestic altercation drunk and armed.

Mathew John Lohr, 33, has been charged with two counts of fourth-degree DUI, two counts of misdemeanor domestic abuse and one count of "carrying a pistol with alcohol concentration of .10 or more."

The incident occurred at about 12:38 a.m. when IGH police spotted a Chevy Silverado driving through the intersection of Bonner Court East and 65th Street North with its lights out.

Officers approached the vehicle and found Lohr in the driver's seat. It was immediately apparent that he was intoxicated, police say. Lohr had bloodshot, watery eyes, slurred speech, and smelled strongly of alcohol. He told officers that he'd had three tall beers. A preliminary breath test showed that Lohr's blood alcohol level was .155.

During the encounter, officers found a fully loaded gun between the driver's seat and the middle console.

When questioned, Lohr explained that he had a permit to carry. He said that he was driving that night in an effort to escape an argument at home. Officers noted that Lohr had dried blood on both lips.

While questioning Lohr, officers saw the same yellow vehicle drive by three times. The plate was registered to Lohr's address. When stopped, the woman driving the car said that she and Lohr had gotten into a fight, during which he became physically violent.

The woman said he slapped her on the side of her head, then grabbed her and threw her to the ground because she was blocking his truck. The woman showed officers her hands. She was missing many fake fingernails and two of her fingers were bloodied, injuries she sustained when trying to defend herself, she said.

She added that Lohr hit her with his truck as he sped out of the driveway.
