Inver Grove Heights Man Charged with Felony Domestic Assault

Alfredo G. Garcia is charged with domestic assault by strangulation and making terroristic threats.

An Inver Grove Heights man has been charged with domestic assault by strangulation and making terroristic threats after authorities say he covered a woman’s mouth and nose and threatened to kill her.

Two warrants for Alfredo G. Garcia, 24, were issued June 13. He was arrested Wednesday in Inver Grove Heights and remains in Dakota County Jail in Hastings on a $15,000 bond.

According to one of the complaints against Garcia, Inver Grove Heights police were called to a home last Dec. 14 after a woman reported that he had become angry over something she posted on her Facebook page.

The complaint says Garcia pulled the woman by her hair into a bathroom, where he punched her several times on the head and ear. He covered her mouth and nose, held her down and threatened to kill her, according to the complaint.

The woman told police that she sought medical treatment later that day. The complaint says the woman had visible bruises and other injuries.

Garcia was also being sought on misdemeanor charges of domestic assault and disorderly conduct. An omnibus hearing in his case is scheduled for July 11 in Dakota County District Court in Hastings.
