When police arrived, the apartment was in disarray, according to the complaint. The victim said she and Anderson began to argue while they were in the process of moving, and that Anderson had pushed her to the ground.

When she got up, the victim said, Anderson punched her in the face, and she fell again to the ground, where Anderson kicked her and spat on her.

Police noted that the victim had blood on her lower lip and a bruise on her left arm.

Anderson admitted to police that he and the victim had argued, but denied hitting her. He said she hit something during the argument and knocked it off the television, but it bounced up and hit her in the mouth.

Anderson’s criminal record includes two previous domestic assault-related convictions, in 2003 and 2006.
