Inver Grove Heights Man Sentenced to Two Years in Prison For Punching, Choking Girlfriend

Ambrose Nosette Lewis, 31, has prior convictions for theft, domestic assault, trespassing, disorderly conduct and numerous DWIs.

Dakota County District Court Judge Richard Spicer sentenced a 31-year-old Inver Grove Heights man to 23 months in prison last Friday after he was convicted of felony domestic abuse by strangulation on Nov. 15.

Ambrose Nosette Lewis was given credit for 126 days in custody and will serve out the remainder of his sentence at the Minnesota Correctional Facility at St. Cloud. 

According to court documents, Lewis was arrested on Sept. 10 after Inver Grove Heights police responded to a 911 call initiated by the victim’s friends.

According to victim testimony, —while she was driving—after becoming angry about a man she was talking to earlier in the evening. 

Lewis reportedly grabbed the woman by the throat and dragged her out of the vehicle once the couple arrived at the woman's residence. She told police Lewis choked her and shook her while inside the residence and would not allow her to answer phone calls from her friends.
