IGH Man Accused of Sexual Contact With 7-Year-Old Niece

If convicted of the charge against him, Max Alfonso Miranda-Rivera faces a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison and a $35,000 fine.

A 24-year-old Inver Grove Heights man was charged Aug. 3 with second-degree criminal sexual conduct after police say he engaged in sexual contact multiple times with his 7-year-old niece.

According to the criminal complaint, Max Alfonso Miranda-Rivera's niece told Dakota County social workers that her uncle touched her body with his hands in a sexual way on at least three occasions.

The girl also said he used his penis on a fourth occasion.

Patch does not disclose the names or initials of victims or alleged victims of sexual assault.

The complaint states that the girl told social workers that all the assaults took place at her mother's home in Inver Grove Heights and that "she was scared when (Miranda-Rivera) did things to her."

The alleged victim's older sister told social workers that the young girl told her identical accounts of the incidents.

In a post-arrest interview Miranda-Rivera admitted to sexually assaulting the young girl but told police he did not remember many of the details she gave authorities.

At no point did Miranda-Rivera accuse the young girl of lying to police.

Miranda-Rivera is scheduled to appear at an omnibus hearing on Aug. 28. If convicted of the charge against him, he faces a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison and a $35,000 fine.
