UPDATE: Bail Set at $250,000 for IGH Shooting Suspect

UPDATE 10:45 A.M.: Bail has been set at $250,000 for the man accused of shooting two people at an Inver Grove Heights residence early New Year's Day.

Four felony charges are pending against Michael Jamar Griffis, 35, who was arrested shortly after the early-morning shooting in the 3000 block of Upper 76th Street East.

Griffis continued to be held Thursday morning at the Dakota County Jail.

He is scheduled to make his first court appearance at noon Thursday.

The $250,000 bail amount is without conditions. He can be released on $100,000 bail if he agrees to have no contact with the victims and meets other requirements.

ORIGINAL STORY, JAN. 1: Felony charges are pending against a 35-year-old man following a shooting in Inver Grove Heights early Tuesday morning.

At least two people were shot in the incident, which reportedly occurred around 1 a.m Tuesday in a building in the 3000 block of Upper 76th Street East, according to police scanner reports.

A woman was shot in her hand, and another person was shot in the upper arm, according to scanner reports. Emergency personnel were called to treat the woman in a car on 70th Street near Highway 52, and the other person was found at the scene of the shooting.

The male suspect, Michael Jamar Griffis, was arrested a short time later.

Griffis was being held in the Dakota County Jail Tuesday evening. Four felony charges are pending against him: two charges of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon, one count of discharging a dangerous weapon and one count of attempted third-degree murder.

Griffis is scheduled to make his first appearance in Dakota County District Court in Hastings on Thursday.
