Man Charged with Body-Slamming Inver Grove Heights Woman

Wade Gordon McIntosh of St. Paul faces two felony counts of domestic assault.

A St. Paul man has been charged with domestic assault after an incident last week in which police say he body-slammed an Inver Grove Heights woman to the ground.

Wade Gordon McIntosh, 41, faces two felony charges of domestic assault, each of which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

McIntosh remained in the Dakota County Jail Tuesday on a $50,000 bond. An omnibus hearing in his case is scheduled for Aug. 29 in Dakota County District Court in Hastings.

According to the criminal complaint, the victim came to the Inver Grove Heights police station on July 29 to report that early that morning, she was assaulted by McIntosh at her home. She told police that she had known McIntosh for about three years, and that there had been previous assault incidents that she didn’t report to police.

The victim said that she went out her back door about 5 a.m. to smoke and discovered McIntosh on her patio. She said he jumped up and began to laugh loudly at her, then grabbed her cell phone and told her that she “needed to listen” to what he had to say and told her to “shut the [expletive] up.”

McIntosh called her several names before pushing her, picking her up, putting her over his shoulder and body-slamming her to the ground, the complaint says.

The victim said her right knee hit the ground first, followed by her elbow and her forearm.

At some point, McIntosh slammed the victim’s cell phone against the back door five times, breaking the screen and the phone, the complaint says.

As McIntosh began walking away, carrying her cell phone, the victim told him she was going to call police, the complaint says. McIntosh threw her cell phone into the yard and drove away, the victim said.

The victim told police that she came to the station to make a report because she was afraid having the police come to her home would upset her children.

The victim called police about 8 p.m. that day and said McIntosh had returned to her home. When police arrived, McIntosh admitted being at the home during the earlier incident, but said he was there to pick up his car, the complaint says.

McIntosh told police that he had returned to the home that evening to check on the victim, because she had broken her cell phone, the complaint says. He denied assaulting her.

McIntosh’s criminal record includes a 2002 conviction for fifth-degree assault and a 2007 conviction for domestic assault.
